Meet the Staff
Khang Nguyen, DDS
Khang Nguyen, DDS, attended the University of California - Davis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the New York University College of Dentistry – one of the most prestigious dental schools on the east coast. After graduating from dental school, he moved back to California and in 2006 established El Portal Dental Group in Merced, CA.
To stay abreast of the latest techniques and technology, Dr. Nguyen takes continuing education courses in endodontics, progressive orthodontics, ClearCorrect and dental implants. In doing so, he can offer cutting-edge treatments and provide the best dental care for his patients.
Dr. Nguyen is an active member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Stanislaus Foundation Society, Yosemite Dental Society and Merced Chamber of Commerce.
Ernest Fessler, DDS
Dr. Fessler was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from University California of Berkeley and Universiyt of Pacific Dental School in San Francisco. He has owned two private practices, one in Oakland and the other in Danville. He is a member of the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
He has seved as an officer in The Academy of General Dentistry where he earned the Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) degree. With over four decades of clinical experience, Dr. Fessler has served as an assistant professor at a California Dental School.
Personal interests ouside his profession include fishing, scuba, photgraphy, and working on collectable cars and motorcycles.
Dennis B. Costa, RDH
Dennis B. Costa has been a member of El Portal Dental Group since December 2010. He has been in the dental field since 1998. He attended San Joaquin Valley College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2010. He comes from Yuba City and moved in to the Central Valley in 2010. He is a current member of the American Dental Hygienist Association and attends continuing education classes through out the year to keep up-to-date with new research and technology. Dennis prides himself in patient care, patient education and comfort. When Dennis is not helping patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, writing music and enjoys the outdoors.
